Giulia Ferrando
I’m a British-Irish theatre director and writer from Bath, based in London, making new work and reinventing classics across the UK and in Europe. I'm interested in the relationship between movement and text, building collaborative ensembles, and staging what feels urgent, fascinating, and compulsive to watch.
As Artistic Director of award-winning company TheatreGoose, I write, direct, and produce an expanding repertoire of critically acclaimed work including Her Green Hell, a solo show reimagining an incredible true survival story, and Sisters Three, an experimental new take on Chekhov's classic play. I recently made my European directorial debut with a new production of George Brant's Grounded at The Bridge Theatre, Brussels, and alongside my own work, I regularly assist and associate direct for distinguished British directors such as Polly Findlay, Stephen Unwin, and Lindsay Posner on productions that tour the UK and transfer to the West End.
I studied Ancient and Modern History at the University of Oxford and an MPhil in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge, where I began directing at theatres such as the Oxford Playhouse before graduating in 2020.
I'm currently writing a new medical thriller for TheatreGoose, as well as its feature screenplay adaptation, working with Kristina Cuello at Curate Management.
